In my garden this week

Within the last week, my irises and peonies are blooming, lily of the valley and bleeding hearts are finishing their cycle.  With a heavy rain last night following several hot days this week, my herb garden is starting to show growth as are my tomato and peppers plants. It’s a joy to share my oasis; this slideshow features my peonies, irises and some of the mixed flower and herb beds.

Easy Upcycle DIY

Being a foodie, I have countless bottles of herbs and spices.  The other day, having emptied a bottle of Trader Joe’s red pepper flakes, I soaked off the label and thought hmmmm….this could make a cute little bud vase.

With the holes in the plastic top, I arranged some of the short stemmed peonies from the garden – perfect.

Today, I replaced the spent peonies with the newest garden blooms, my sweetpeas. With their thin stems, the little holes hold them upright making a petite and pretty bouquet.

More lovelies from my garden

Today, more blooms appeared in my garden.  First one, then another peony opened with so many to follow in the days and weeks ahead.

My irises continue to open at break-neck speed with Michigan’s hot, dry days. Each iris is more delicate and showy than the next.  The pale peachy-pink iris is new this year.

Peonies at last!

I can’t help it.  With each new bloom that appears in my garden, I get an almost euphoric pleasure and feel the need to share these beauties with those who follow my blog.  Have I thanked you lately for your support?  If not, many thanks! I only wish you could smell these fabulous blooms.
