As one of the 59 Candles, 59 Things (that make me happy) series, I recently posted pictures of my irises that had bloomed as of that date. Since that post, the remainder have revealed themselves and were simply too pretty not to share.
And not to leave out some other happy surprises, the first peony (of several hundred blooms between three bushes) has opened as well as my lovely Dwarf Korean Lilac Bush, given to me by my step-son and daughter-in-law. My yard is launching into it’s fragrant phase…
Beautiful flowers! I also have a Korean lilac bush. Mine blooms twice every year, first in May and then again sometime in late July. Does your lilac bloom twice too?
Thank you for your comment. Mine has never bloomed twice in the same year but I would be thrilled. There have been a few years when it didn’t bloom at all and I’m always so happy when it does. Fingers crossed perhaps I’ll get a second bloom one year!
I noticed a few Louisiana Iris blooming, next should be the Japanese Iris….sigh aren’t they just wonderful things?
I agree, they are really special. Thank you for visiting. I’ve never heard of a Louisiana Iris. Is it a wild iris?
Wow, your flowers are so beautiful! I don’t have a garden, but my boyfriend and I visit the San Francisco Arboretum regularly. One of our favorite pasttimes is to smell everything we can while we’re there, especially the lilacs. We see more Ceonothus here, a relative of lilac, and they smell heavenly!
Thank you for your kind comments. I do love my garden and there will be more photos coming. The peonies and poppies have just started. I checked out your blog and I like it. Now following you and look forward to seeing what you post!
